Payroll Manager

We are looking for a solution-oriented, self-motivated Payroll Manager to lead and support Strive’s fast-paced growth. Reporting to our VP Controller, this newly created position will play a key leadership role in scaling our payroll operations. You should be ready to be hands-on and to handle the legalities and logistics of multiple payroll locations while being able to find innovative solutions to complex challenges to the payroll function. The perfect candidate will thrive on making processes more efficient and scalable while ensuring the highest level of quality of our operations to both employees and hiring managers.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee and manage bi-weekly payroll ensuring all hours are properly inputted, incentives are paid, etc.
  • Oversee and manage off cycle payrolls as they occur 
  • Oversee and manage all payroll deductions(Benefits, garnishments, etc) as well as ensuring they are properly calculated for new hires  
  • Oversee and manage all other payroll incentives (cell phone stipend, etc) are properly calculated/inputted 
  • Oversee and manage all federal, state, and local tax filings/requirements 
  • Oversee and manage all federal, state, and local labor requirements 
  • Oversee and manage all payroll reporting – weekly, bimonthly, monthly, annually, etc 
  • Oversee and manage ad hoc payroll reporting - weekly, bimonthly, monthly, annually, etc 
  • Oversee and manage tax registrations/filings for new states as the workforce rapidly expands 
  • Oversee, manage, and research any tax related questions that employees may have 
  • Oversee and manage payroll cross-training among staff 
  • Deliver instruction/training to employees regarding the use of payroll-related systems including entry of timesheets, online access of pay statements, etc. 
  • Partner with the Accounting and People team to ensure everyone is on the same page for all payroll related activities 


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field 
  • Five or more years proven track record in managing and supervising a multi-state payroll environment 
  • Experience with other payroll systems including ADP, TriNet, Rippling, Paycom, etc

  • Planning/Organizing—the individual prioritizes and plans work activities to assure deadlines are met effectively and efficiently. 
  • Oral Communication—the individual articulates clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. 
  • Written Communication—the individual can effectively formulate written communication for company-wide postings involving narratives and numeric examples. 
  • Adaptability—the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands, and can deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. 
  • Dependability—the individual is consistently available during scheduled workdays, follows instructions, and responds to management direction. 


Annual Salary Range: $93,000.00 – $104,000.00

Strive Health offers competitive compensation and benefits.  An annual performance bonus, determined by company and individual performance, is available for many roles and aligned to Strive Health guidelines.
